Ambassador Cherith Norman Chalet

Ambassador Cherith Norman Chalet was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on September 12, 2018 as the U.S. Ambassador for UN Management and Reform and‎ Alternative Representative to the General Assembly. In this role, Cherith leads the U.S. Mission to the UN’s Management and Reform Section and serves primarily as the U.S. Representative to the UN’s Fifth Committee. Previously, Cherith served as Minister Counselor of UN Management and Reform from 2014-2018, Counselor from 2012-2014 and as a Senior Advisor from 2008-2013 when she joined the U.S. Mission. Before joining USUN, Cherith served in the Bureau of Legislative Affairs at the Department of State from 2003-2007 as the primary liaison between State and the House Appropriations and Budget Committees. A native of North Carolina, she worked for Senator Jim DeMint prior to joining the State Department. Cherith is married with three children: Nicolai (7), Cara (3) and Madeleine (1).
