The U.S. Mission’s Political Section works in support of the office of the U.S. Permanent Representative and other U.S. Ambassadors to advance U.S. priorities on all political and security matters at the United Nations. The Section primarily helps formulate and articulate U.S. policy – with a focus on negotiating resolutions and other documents – on issues before the Security Council, as well as in the General Assembly's First Committee (Disarmament and International Security) and Fourth Committee (Special Political and Decolonization), and in certain political and security matters being addressed by the full General Assembly.
